Although herrerasaurids and neotheropods do have longer prezygopophyses than
most other clades of dinosaurs, Coelophysis does not exhibit the extreme
state present in dromaeosaurids and the other taxa I listed. While
Coelophysis' prezygopophyses overlap one preceeding centrum, Deinonychus'
overlap 8-10 centra. Coelophysis does seem to have longer prezygopophyses
than most other theropod though, as allosaurids' and tyrannosaurids' for
instance only extend two-thirds or less of the central length.
