New Carcharodontosaurine Maxilla
I found a picture of the maxilla of Currie and Coria's new
carcharodontosaurine at:
http://www.tyrrellmuseum.com/expeditions/argentina2000/february16h.jpg
Notice that the dorsal and ventral borders kinda blend into eachother
posteriorly as in Carcharodontosaurus saharicus, while in Giganotosaurus
they are subparallel in this region. There appears to be a small triangular
maxillary fenestra there too. Maybe this new animal is a closer relative to
the african theropod? Be sure to browse around that site, there are pics of
various other elements (including a comparison of tibiae from the new carch
with G. carolinii).
