Job Posting: Education Programs Coordinator

Description:
Project Exploration was co-founded by paleontologist Paul Sereno and educator 
Gabrielle Lyon to bring dinosaurs and natural science to the public and to 
provide innovative educational opportunities for
city kids.  Project Exploration accomplishes this through youth development 
programs, services to schools, professional development for teachers, and 
public exhibits.

Project Exploration is seeking a natural science educator to design, write 
and teach a wide variety of informal science programs targeting girls and 
minority students living in the Chicago area. Activities include: developing 
and implementing inquiry based, experiential natural science, paleontology 
and geology programs; developing and implementing curricula and activities 
based on real-life paleontology expeditions; participating in field-based 
programs in Illinois, Wyoming and Montana; collaborating with scientists to 
create lab tour narratives and visit materials; providing in-service teacher 
training and presentations at area schools.

Requirements:
B.S. degree (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences, environmental 
education or informal science education. Minimum two years experience in 
museum/nature/outdoor center or similar education
facility; extensive knowledge of informal science, geology or biology with 
formal and inquiry-based teaching experience required. Demonstrated ability 
to write/teach wide range of natural science programs for
audiences ranging from children to adults. Ability to manage multiple 
projects, develop and administer budgets, and provide long-range planning. 
Strong desire to work in a growing urban institution. Spanish language 
skills, familiarity with program evaluation techniques and experience with 
grant-funded project reporting plusses.

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience.
