Succinctly put. As has been said before, the younger animals probably
acted more as active predators while the more mature and larger members were
slowed down by size, age and susceptibility to injury (the "Farlow Effect")
and, as a result, may have hunted less-relying more on scavenging or
hijacking prey killed by others.
