Roy Chapman Andrews biography

Just writing to recommend a terrific book I just
finished:

_Dragon Hunter: Roy Chapman Andrews and the Central
Asiatic Expeditions_
by Charles Gallenkamp
Viking 2001, ISBN 0670890936

It gives a great account of Andrew's beginnings, his
ascent through the ranks of AMNH and his associations
with Henry Fairfield Osborn, and of course, his
coordination and leadership of the Central Asiatic
Expeditions. Not much paleontology (says
_Velociraptor_ "exhibited . . . especially thick
feathers"), but the personalities, politics, and
trials and triumphs that are described made this book
hard to put down. Makes anyone want to lead their own
romantic adventures and explorations into the
wilderness! Yeah, Andrews is(was) THE man!
