IMAX T. rex
For historical purposes, the film (VHS/DVD) should be in one's collection. If one so chooses, one can make a copy of the film, editing out the hominids (although Charles Knight is captured rather well). The dinosaurs were designed by Mike Trcic, probably the most imaginative and knowledgable sculptor walking with dinosaurs. It was he who designed the scale-models, then the actual-size tyrannosaur used in the 1993 film which gutted Michael Crichton's novel in favour of pseudointellectual screeds. This female tyrannosaur, copied and mimiced as much as Charles R. Knight's, has enthralled all of us -- and to Mike Trcic must go credit for capturing her nuances. It is typical of Horrorwood, to be sure, that artisans are driven away; even Mr Crichton withdrew from participation in the third film when he saw its "plot". Mike now has a dinosaur studio in Arizona.
