You'd think (American slang) but the fossil definitely has a curve to it.
Apparently the 'bone' was more pliable than is normally thought. It
couldn't
whip the tail around like in Jurassic park, but it could still bend. If you
think of it like a long thin piece of bamboo you can slightly 'bend' it.
yes, and if you bend it too far, it'll snap. I don't think a Velociraptor
could take that chance (I don't really think it could do it if it wanted
either), so base it down like this
the root of the tail (?10-20 first vertebrae) were pretty flexible.
the rest of the tail was not designed for flexibility, but had a slight
ability to bend - maybe to prevent that it'd snap too easily while running
or jumping etc.
