on the Internet regarding some very recent work being done with a robotic

"Pushing the Envelope on Large Robots" and its following companion piece
"Walking on Two Legs" address these issues.  From the latter:

< Not all ancient reptiles were giants. Troödon, for example, was a late
Cretaceous dinosaur that grew up to six feet long and four feet tall. Over
the past four years, Peter Dilworth, a robotics researcher at MIT's Leg Lab,
has built a 10-pound version of that dinosaur called Troody, the first
two-legged dinosaur robot. Dilworth consulted with paleontologist Gregory S.
Paul to ensure that the dimensions are as true to the real thing as possible,
based on fossils. >
