  The neck of *Mamenchisaurus hochuanensis* (type, Yang and
Zhao) is a total of 8.5m (= 28.89ft) long, and the longest
vertebra is cv10 and 11 (73cm) compared to *Sauroposeidon* (cv8
[125cm]) -- cv8 of *M. hochuanensis* is 59cm. Other specimens
have been questioned in their affinity (see Glut, 1999, where he
refers some species to dubious affinities and to
*Omeisaurus*....). Overall, the cervical series surpasses (by
far) the neck of *Mamenchisaurus,* and Wedel et al. are correct
in saying that, though the brachiosaurid neck has fewer
elements, the extreme attenuation is approached only in
*Brachiosaurus,* and *Barosaurus* (Wedel et al., 2000).
