Re: UFOs (unidentified fossilized objects)

Gavin Rymill asks about the "unidentified fossilized object(s)".  These look as though they could be sticks of ancient wood that are partially lignitized and partially silicified.  We encounter lots of that situation in the Arundel clay and adjacent materials, here in Maryland.

    My 2 cents worth.

Subject: UFOs

I would like to draw upon the combined expertise of the DML...

I have in my posession one very strange UFO (Unidentified Fossilized Object)..

I have very little clue about fossils but, looking at it, its not how I expect a fossil to even look. The bone appears to still be... well... boney... Almost like wood... and completely different from the rock in which its embedded.

Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any comments.

Go to this page and scroll down.. Look at the bottom three images.

Many thanks,

Gav
