Re: polyphyodonty in dinosaurs
Coelophysoids, compsognathids, spinosauroids, _Ornitholestes_,
tyrannosaurs, probably some other theropod groups I'm not thinking of<
I can't say I know a whole lot about the other groups mentioned above, but
in _Coelophysis_, it has 4 premaxilliary teeth, and individual variation
between 22-24 maxillary teeth. The premax teeth tend to be slightly longer,
but in general, the teeth all have the same form. Short, and thin, very
bladelike, with serations on both edges. As I said, I don't know much about
the other groups mentioned, so I can't really comment on them. Just throwing
out what I know.
