You
can't have an ancestor after its kin.
Why not? Just because a species speciates (producing a daughter species)
doesn't necessarily mean that the parent species becomes extinct. It can,
in fact, persist even beyond the span of the daughter species (and, of
course, continue to produce new daughter species along the way).
