Very little actually, as this only happened AFTER the ancestors of the 
amerindians had helped drive most other large mammals in North America to 
extinction.  Combining this with what we know about amerindian culture at 
the time of European colonization, suggests that the amerindians had 
*finally* learned how to conserve resources, and not overhunt.

In short it says more about human adaptability than anything else.
