So now, to make this work, we're dependent on fasciliation of bolide
strike by volcano.

A reasonable assumption to make is that, like birds, non-avian dinosaurs
had both precocial and altricial species.  Unless you want to make global
altriciality another pre-condition.

This assumption is hard to support given baby croc abilities.
