CARCHARODONTOSAURS

Some very brief news that will (eventually) be relevant to the
carcharodontosaurid debate - -

1) We are increasingly confident that _Neovenator_ is a
carcharodontosaurid - stay tuned for the details. Incidentally, this
strengthens the case for carcharodontosaurids being allosauroids.

2) _Neovenator_ also grew to enormous sizes. The type and paratype
are in the region of 6-7 m, but referred phalanges and vertebrae
indicate giants of 10 m and more.

3) There is supposed to be a _Giganotosaurus_ specimen bigger than
the type. It is an incomplete lower jaw found in the ?early 1900s
and, according to a presentation given a few years ago by Rudolfo
Coria, is something like 10% bigger than the lower jaw of the type
specimen. Does anyone know any more about this specimen? Was it ever
published?
