HEADS UP, Listers!
For those who do not know about it, The
Paleobiological Fund is auctioning a carved, dinosaur-topped 'walking stick',
signed by paleontologist Paul C. Sereno, and upon which he has also written the
name of dinosaurs he has discovered (etched with wood-burning tool after Sereno
wrote it, for beauty and permanence)! You've gotta see this one. At
this time, there is only one day and fourteen hours left before the electronic
auction ends. All proceeds go to The Paleobiological Fund's very worthy
projects. Not only that, but included with the stick are excellent photos
of Sereno in front of skeletal reconstructions of dinosaurs his efforts have
discovered.
Right now, the bidding is at $330.
Can't afford to go for it? Visit the sight just for kicks, anyhow.
Sereno's stick is 4.5 feet long and about 1.25 inches in diameter.
Go to the site and see for yourself. [OOPS! GOLLY GEE! I hope
people don't mis-interpret that! :O ]
Seriously, though, this is someone's
chance to but a stick of history and help finance paleontological
work.
Come on, Larry, I know you can afford it;
and it might be useful in fighting off an attacking pack of
Deinonychus!
