RE: sauropod quantity

I'm sorry I didn't get back with the taphonomy refs like I wanted to. I don't have Anna K. Behrensmeyer's book on taphonomy, but that is a good resource if anyone on the list knows of it.

The other two books I thought would be of interest are:

R. Lee Lyman. 1994. Vertebrate Taphonomy. Cambridge Manuals in Archaeology Series. New York: Cambridge University Press. 524 pp.

While this is an "archaeology" text, it also has a lot of good info on vertebrate taphonomy in general.

The other book deals not so much with taphonomy but with bone structure in general for those interested in such things (I suspect there are many on this list):

John Currey. 1984. The Mechanical Adaptations of Bones. New Jersey: Princeton University Press. 294.

And, as an afterthought, there is always Romer for those who wish a very rigorous anatomical introduction to reptile bone anatomy in various fossil and extant lineages (although his systematics at the back is pretty dated but worth a look for interest).

A. S. Romer. 1956. The Osteology of the Reptiles. University of Chicago Press.

Hope this helps. I had less taphonomic stuff than I thought!
