Where Brachiosaurs feared to tread
OK. I know,...I said that the location of Brachie`s nostrals somewhat "high
up" on it`s head indicated it held it`s head above water to breathe while
submersed. Perhaps there`s an alternate explaination. If it bent it`s neck
over to drink from the surface, and this was it`s habitual mode of imbibing,
then it would still need it`s nostrils out of the water to breath at the
same time (assuming it drank deeply without having to raise it`s neck back
to an upright position to get thre liquids to it`s gut.)
If this is the case,...then it would indicate that the beast never ventured
deeply into the water at all, and had to evolve the high nostril position as
it`s neck evolved into a more upright position.
