Dinosaur Genera List corrections #112
As recently noted by Berislav Krzic, this paper describes a new sauropod
genus and species, whose names appear only once in the paper, buried in the
text on page 122, column 2:
Dalla Vecchia, F. M., 1998. "Remains of Sauropoda (Reptilia, Saurischia) in
the Lower Cretaceous (Upper Hauterivian/Lower Barremian) Limestones of SW
Istria (Croatia)," Geologica Croatica 51(2): 105-134.
The new genus and species are Histriasaurus boscarollii, and the describer
considers the new sauropod as being most closely related to the genus
Rebbachisaurus. More sauropod taxa may be present in the material (mainly
incomplete vertebrae and limb elements) but these cannot presently be
defined. The generic name means "Istria lizard," from Histria, the Latin name
of Istria (where the specimens were found); the species epithet honors Dario
Boscarolli, who with colleagues reported the bone-bearing locality in 1993.
So we add genus #853 to the Dinosaur Genera List:
Histriasaurus Dalla Vecchia, 1998
Also a date correction: I now have a copy of a 1990 paper describing the
Chinese prosauropod Yimenosaurus. It is, however, entirely in Chinese, and I
have not yet been able to decipher the name of the author. So I temporarily
change the author and date for the Yimenosaurus entry to:
Yimenosaurus Zhang(?), 1990 [author's name uncertain]
I also understand that the ankylosaurian genus Anamantarx now has a formal
description. That paper hasn't come to me yet, however. When it does, I'll
change the status of the genus in the List.
