Baryonyx was referred to its own group (Baryonychidae ) for a while ,
pending examination of other spinosaurid remains . The association between
Baryonyx and Spinosaurus is based largely on cranial material (premaxilla ,
maxilla  ,dentary and teeth )  . Both animals posses snouts with expanded
tips (terminal rosette), similar teeth with respects to shape , and
elongate neural spines ( extreme in Spinosaurus, modest in Baryonyx )
.Suchomimus went a long way towards clarifying the relationships within the
Spinosauridae .The family is evidently divided into two clades -
Suchomimus and Baryonyx belonging to the  ' long-snouted '
forms(Baryonychinae);  Spinosaurus and Irritator constituting the 'shorter
snouted' forms(Spinosaurinae) .
