Dr. John Hubert at the University of Masseschusetts has
been studying the process of dinosaur bone fossilization at Dinosaur
National Monument. His opinion is that the oxygen isotope ratios seen in
the bones actually represent those of the groundwater temeperature that
permeates during and after permineralization, something that makes
inutitive sense at least. Depending on original isotope ratios in
diagenetically altered bones sounds suspicious doesn't it? Even the
nicest preserved dinosaur bone is probably going to have some groundwater
infiltration.
