New species Perplexisaurus foveatus (love that genus name) is
described. Pits associated with maxillary suggests odd sensory
system.

Brachiosaurid material from Late Cretaceous. Caudal verts and ribs only.


Gierlinski, G. 1997. Sauropod tracks in the Early Jurassic of Poland.

Polish material follows up on earlier reports of similar Italian material.
Sauropodomorph material from the Holy Cross Mtns. adding to 
theropod and ornithischian material previously known. From a
juvenile or small form.


Trofimov, B.A. 1997. A new generic name Gobiotheriodon for
   a symmetrodont mammal Gobiodon Trofimov, 1980.
   Acta Palaeontologica Polonica, 42(4):496.

Gobiodon was already occupied by a fish, so a new name
has to be proposed.


And now 2 book reviews. First a glowing one of Carroll*s (1997)
book Patterns and Process of Vertebrate Evolution -

Gingerich, P.D. 1998. Vertebrates and Evolution. Evolution,
   52(1):289-291.

And finally a pretty scathing one on the ancient marine reptile
book produced by Calloway & Nicholls (eds.) By J.M. Clark
in Copeia 1998(1):256-257. He likes some of the chapters
but notes the lack of modern phylogenetic and 
paleobiogeographic approaches mars the book. I personally
found the index in the front which didn*t include the
names of the authors of the chapters a might odd.

Well, pretty much caught up now, free at last. Will try and
not let things pile up from now on.
