The misnaming of the kit aside (apparently it is actually
Yangchuanosaurus), admittedly not a minor problem, that's actually a
totally fair and quite good price for an excellent sculpture in resin.
Bob Morales isn't Revell-Monogram, which affects both his overhead
(higher) and what he's offering (how many mainstream kits do you know of
representing EITHER M. or Y.?). If it's true and it is in fact
Yangchuanosaurus, fine. I'll change the name plate and buy that for a
dollar (or $110).
Bob Morales isn't "feeding off of" the public's interest in dinosaurs
any more than Greg or Brian do by selling paintings of dinosaurs, or the
paleontologists by selling their books.
I mean, were it a sculpture of Allosaurus fragilis and it were marketed
as Tyrannosaurus rex (or even better "T-Rex"), you'd have more of a
point. But I don't think there's a huge hunger out there for kits of
Metriocanthosaurus, even in the dinosaur modeling hobby (one of mine, so
I know what I'm talking about).
