Last gasps of the hepatic piston?

Science 281 (3 July 1998):45-49 has a barrage of letters (by Hicks and
Farmer, Nassar, and Hengst) responding to Ruben et al.'s (1997) lung
ventilation paper, and a rebuttal by the latter authors.  Check it out.  I
expect we'll hear lots more about this at SVP.
