OT genus changes query

Could someone please fill me in on why two prehistoric animal genus
changes occurred? I've not had much luck following my own, admittedly
quick, research.

Carcharodon megalodon --- Carcharocles megalodon
Phororachus (sp.?) --- Phorusrachus (sp.?)

Best to go offlist as neither is a non-avian dinosaur.

Any help appreciated.
