The best work on the croc forelimb was done by Furbringer in the 1870's.
It's in German, but the plates are magnificent. Gadow also published some
good descriptions - again, in German. If you can find a copy of Reese'e
*The Alligator and Its Allies* (published around the time of the first
world war), he reproduced most of Gadow's plates. Nothing even close to
them has been published since.
