* * *
Here are some highlights of U.S. national television programming
concerning dinosaurs, other prehistoric animals and evolution, all
times Eastern (check your local listings to confirm):
Monday, August 3
A&E, 7:00am
The Nature of Things
Dinosaurs: Remains to be Seen
Tracing the world of the dinosaurs, with a really big piece of onion
paper.
Friday, August 7
Discovery Channel, 10:00pm
Beyond T. rex
Beyond the Valley of the T. rexes, by Don Lessem. Really big stocky
allosaurs. Yawn.
Saturday, August 8
Discovery Channel, 2:00am (to those still mourning the end of Rhonda
Shear's reign, "Up all Nite Friday")
Beyond T. rex
Discovery Channel, 6:00pm
Beyond T. rex
Sunday, August 9
SciFi Channel, 3:00am (you know the drill)
The Creature From the Black Lagoon
They find, they drug, they lose (whoops!), they hunt and they kill a
slimy monster with a foot fetish. (No, it's not Dick Morris.) Cheap
little 3D B-movie that became a huge hit, featuring tons of fabulously
absurd pseudo-paleontology. A lot of fun, great atmosphere.
Discovery Channel, 9:00am
Bonehead Detectives of the Paleoworld
Children's program about paleontology. This episode: "The Terrible
Gorgons" -- ancient reptiles.
Discovery Channel, 9:00pm
Prehistoric Sharks
Recreating the seas of 300 million years ago when sharks reigned
supreme.
