Re: specialized attack

In a book by Martin Hollenshead Hawking with Golden Eagles
ISBN 0-88839-343-1 Eagles can and do take Wolves, They do it by
sinking one claw into the spine near the tail, and when the wolf
turns, the other claw grasps the muzzle, then great force is exerted and
usually breaks the neck or back, if there is a miss
then the claw grasps the chest and with a kneading action punctures
the heart. A 5 kg eagle can take a wolf 8 x its own weight with this
method .This is also described in a more technical book by
F.W.Remmler. If this is done by an extant predator only the imagination
limits what dinosaurs may have done.>>>>>

there was a documentary on the discovery channel a few nights that had footage
of eagles in Austraila that are known to take down juvenile to sub adult red
kangarroos
and frequently too. The particular eagle actually went back to eye the group
of kangarroos even when It had a freshly killed kangaroo waiting nearby.
