Somebody alerted me to the contrary.
<<Now why is it flying fish don't 'swim' through the air (WHICH IS WHAT
GEORGE SAID). They use the same muscles 'swimming' through the air as
apposed to swimming in water. I take it you've never seen a flying fish
'fly'. I've seen some while takeing the boat to Catalina island. What
Flying Fish do is get enough speed to break out of the water, i.e. to
the surface, then then use the bottom of their caudal fin, in a swimming
motion, back and forth, to keep up the 'speed' to swim in the air.>>
I have seen them 'fly', not in the flesh though. But, the
difference is how they 'sustain' their flight. They sustain it using
their anterior fins by gliding. However, your accounts have made me
retract what I have said about flying fish before and it does seem that
they do, have a way of "swimming" through the air.
