Re: The absurdity, the absurdity (was: Cooperating theropods?)

At the risk of pushing the limits of this thread to its utter end, I would
like to mention/ask 3 things:

    1) Larry Dunn: What is your suggestion as to what may have happened
at the site (with the _Tenontosaurus_ and 3 _Deinonychus_)? (Feel free to
speculate!!)

    2) Chris Campbell: You are reiterating my notion of complexity theory
(ie. apparently complex behavior being based on interaction of a few simple
rules) as applied to _Deinonychus_ possible pack-like behavior. {Note that
I said "possible"!}. I agree with this aspect of your posts.

    3) In speaking with some people off list (not list members), I was
reminded of 2 things:
                a) _Deinonychus_ teeth are ALMOST ALWAYS found associated
with _Tenontosaurus_ specimens. In fact, finding _D._ teeth is a good field
indicator that a _T._ might be nearby.

                b) The most commonly found _T._ specimens that show the
most evidence of being eaten by _D._ (scrapings on the bone, along with the
associated teeth) are half-size, sub-adults. These are in the 1500-2000 lb.
range, which is 9-11 times the _D._ weight.

Hope this stirs the pot just enough to keep it simmering, not boiling.
