Chameleons
Another fact on chameleons: they are inordinately thin. While not very
conclusive itself, chameleons sport a semi-erect posture (like crocs
sometimes) that actually reduces its oberall width, and this is
especially evident when you are a, say, predatory flying dinosaur (okay,
bird of prey) that has a sweet spot for little horned lizards. From
above, the lizard actually comes in line with the side of the twig or
branch its on, thus reducing its visibility. The semi-erect legs are a
survival adaptation, and derived, from the sprawl of other squamatans.
Oh, I'm not saying chameleons weren't visible from the
side---color-change did a few tricks.
