>Many of you (many) have expressed concern to the Organizing
>Committee about the stated check-in times for dormitory housing at
>NAPC96. Despite the stated "official" check-in times on all of the
>GW and/or NAPC literature, there will be a staffed desk ready to
>give you your room assignment and key 24 HOURS/DAY. If you arrive
>very late (e.g. 12 midnight or later) you will be given your room
>and your check-in will be completed the next morning. You will not
>be forced to spend a night on the DC streets!
>
>For those of you that are driving and need to park your vehicle, you
>will need to check in at the dorm FIRST. Once you have your room
>assignment and you've unloaded your belongings, you need to go to
>the University Parking Office. The address is 2211 H Street, which
>is only a few short blocks away from the dorm. With your verified
>room registration in hand, you are eligible to purchase reduced rate
>parking passes for the University Parking garage. The reduced rate
>is $8.50/day. They accept ONLY cash, money orders or traveler's
>checks. The parking garage has several entrances >>IMPORTANT<< and
>you will use the I Street entrance between 22nd and 23rd Streets.
>>>>VERY IMPORTANT<<< The parking office is only open Monday through
>Friday from 8AM to 5PM, but if you arrive for example, on Saturday
>night and need to park, you can still enter and park in the garage,
>but you will not be able to gaet the reduced rate until the office
>opens on Monday morning. Instead you will pay the regular rate of
>$11.50/day. (I know these sound steep to some of you, but even the
>regular rate is cheaper than comparable garages in the vicinity -
>welcome to DC!) The parking garage is staffed 24 HOURS/DAY and so
>you will be able to get in and aprk even if you arrive very late.
>
>When you get to the dorms, you will get "clear" map of the general
>GW campus + a pocket guide to the Metro System and other "general
>information" to make the non-science part of the meeting flow a
>little smoother for you. If you have any questions please send
>message to: napc.six@simnh.si.edu OR rahgeol@gwis2.circ.gwu.edu

While we are on the topic of dorms, a pleasant turn of events will now
allow me to reside at the dorm for at least _part_ of the
conference. Anybody need a married, non-smoking (but heavy beer
drinking) , non-traditional undergrad as a room mate?
