Was T. rex slow?

Hi all,
Ive managed to think of a question in my small amount of free time.

#1-In the June issue of earth I noticed something very disturbing to 
me, a story stateing that T-rex was most likely pretty slow clocking in 
at about 18 mph....WHAT ONLY 18 MPH WHAT IS THIS SOME KIND OF @%#@@$@$% 
JOKE!!!....whew sorry about that... what happened to my 40 mph monster 
and what views are changing this theory?
