Got Lockley/Hunt's recent book to read. They agree with the
pterosaur interpretation of Pteraichnus, and dispute the "swimming"
sauropods. The sauropod "swimming" traces are probably, according to
their book, the remains of undertracks from the forelimbs, and are NOT
true tracks. The forelimbs, which have a bit of weight but not much
surface area on the soles, press down farther into the sediment, leaving
undertracks, while the hindlimbs, with their big elephantine feet, either
leave no undertracks or very faint undertracks. Very interesting. Long
live Pteraichnus the Pterosaur!
