Darn, where'd I leave my flak jacket?



Given the recent flurry of discussion about why dinosaurs reached larger
sizes than terrestrial mammals, a very relevant book that all might find
interesting is the just-published Macroecology, by James H. Brown (Univ.
Chicago Press, 1995).
     I have attempted to apply macroecological thinking to the matter of
dinosaur body sizes in J.O. Farlow et al., 1995, Dinosaur biology,
Annual Review of Ecology and Systematics 26: 445-471.  I'd summarize my
hypothesis here, but a recent posting leads me to think that this might
result in my getting personally shot, which doesn't sound like very much
fun.
