hoyle/Archyopterix (sic)
For one of the best discussions, and refutations, of the Hoyle arguments
see the chapters in "The Beginning of Birds" (1984). Hecht, Ostrom, Viohl& Well
nhofer, Eds. Charig, among others, have chapters in this volume
BTW, if you are interested in some striking reconstruction of Archyopteryx
and various pterosaurs see the little booklet by Manfred Reichel. The text
is in French (mostly about the author) , but the drawings --excuted in the '30s
probably in lead pencil-- are outstanding.
Cheers,
Alan
