Re: Man Tracks revisited

Klaus Richter recently mentioned that a friend of his asked about
the Glen Rose tracks and "human prints," including a question about
whether they were made by creationists or theropods. The answer is:
both, plus other phenomena. One frustration I have had over the years
is that many authors have lumped all of the Glen Rose "man track" into
a single category. I want to clarify for Klaus and any newcomers to
this forum that the Glen Rose "man tracks" involve several different
phenomena. Many are forms of elongate, metatarsal theropod tracks,
whose superficially manlike character is often due to infilling,
mud-collapse, or a combination of factors. Other putative man tracks
are purely erosional markings, while still others are partial or
complete carvings (mostly on loose blocks), or vague markings of
unknown origin. I will spare long-time participants any further
rehasing of my previous posts on the topic, but wanted to refer anyone
interested in more information to check out a short summary I wrote on
the topic and placed in the talk.origins archive, at the following Web
site:

http://rumba.ics.uci.edu:8080/faqs/paluxy.html

It gives a synopsis of the the main sites and objects involved the
controversy, and includes a list of references for further reading.
Sone I will be placing a historical summary of the controversy in the
talk.orgins archives. I also invite readers to contact me directly with
any further questions on the or the real dinsoaur tracks at Glen Rose,
which I have been studying for years.

For a broader menu of articles relating to the creation/evolution
debate in general, the talk.origins Web home page is found at URL
address:

Many of the articles may be especially useful for teachers and
professors who often have to field questions on creationism and related
matters.

Thank you.
