Japan's dinosaurs

Regarding the nodosaur from Japan, it consists of the rear portion of
the skull, some jaw material and teeth that are clearly nodosaurid. It
is from a marine limestone from the northern island, Hokkaido. Mesozoic
terrestrial and marine sediments occur in isolated basins throughout
Japan. Except for the nodosaur, the dinosaurs show affinities with
mainland Asia. Japan apparently separated from Asia sometime in the
Cenozoic. Drift may have been south relative to China producing the Sea
of Japan.
