I've got to go for Euan N. K. Clarkson who inspired me to do 
palaeontology through his superlative and enthusiastic teaching 
manner. He employed me as a research assistant to discover new and 
lost Carboniferous fossil localities in Scotland and continues to 
take an interest in my latest venture with dinosaurs.  A truly great 
man IMHO.
