Not necessarily. It depends on the method of storage used. Unless the bones
are stored in a humidity and temperature controlled environment, damage to
fine structure can be quite rapid. Pyrite decay and salt crystal damage can
occur in a matter of weeks as can uncontrolled wetting/drying of bone
freshly excavated from matrix.
