I still haven't tallied the votes, but I think I can make everybody
happy.  The "To:" line of your header should now say (I'm testing this
on this list for the first time, of course): 

Multiple recipients of list <dinosaur@lepomis.psych.upenn.edu>

This should both tell people why they are receiving this mail, and
allow for "reply" to go to the author while "reply-all" will go to the
list.  I suspect that this will end the debate, though I will still
count the votes.
